hijust been reading threw the pages i have a audi a3 1.9 tdi 105 bhp with a fault code of po299 it has had every thing done to it eg exchange turbo, air flow meter,egr valve the fault will clear but after driven for a while lack of power. Just sending you a email because you said dont fit a exchange turbo any ideas thanks again andy. Oilleaking out of the weep holes means its getting past the diaphram in the EGR, so the diaphram is going south. mine was leaking out of the weep hole and making a mess when I bought the car. EGRdiaphram is leaking, the oil will be coming from the small hole below the 'saucer section'. New EGR valve needed. Posted 25 June, 2011. I have the asz engine and my egr was like yours and was very bunged up inside the egr and underneath leading to exhaust gas pipe was caked. Replaced mine this week for a new one.
TheEGR valve was slowing leaking oil out of the two vent holes at the top. After reading some forums this suggested the EGR valve was faulty. Found a brand new genuine VAG one for £100 on ebay and fitted it after taking off and cleaning the intake manifold for good measure.
