The remains of the early 16th century Bastione, a fortress erected by the Republic of Venice to protect Riva against attacks from the north. Construction began in 1507, it was rapidly completed - and already in 1509 the complete fortress fell to the prince-bishop of Trento, George von Neideck, after the Venetians lost an unrelated battle. This is the roundel, or battery tower, of the fortress
